Christine Moffett-Start with Clarity

Christine Moffett

Why I Focus on AI Readiness, Security & Governance

Over the course of my career, I’ve led organizations through every major technology shift — from infrastructure modernization to cloud adoption, cybersecurity transformation, and enterprise risk management.

Each time, the pattern was the same:
Organizations moved quickly.
Governance followed later.
Risk surfaced quietly.

AI is different — not because it’s more powerful, but because it compounds faster and hides deeper.

That’s why my work today focuses on AI readiness.

What I’ve Seen Firsthand

I’ve spent decades advising executives, boards, and leadership teams on technology strategy, security, and risk.

I’ve seen:

^

Well-intentioned innovation create unintended exposure

^

Security addressed after damage was already done

^

Leadership teams pressured to “move fast” without clarity

^

Boards held accountable for decisions they were never fully briefed on

AI introduces those same risks — accelerated.

And most organizations don’t yet realize how much AI is already inside their walls.

Why AI Readiness Comes First

AI doesn’t announce itself.

It enters through productivity tools, vendors, automation, and employee experimentation — often without formal approval, oversight, or policy.

By the time leadership asks, “Are we using AI?”
The real question is already, “Where — and at what cost?”

AI readiness is about slowing down just enough to:

^

See clearly

^

Define ownership

^

Establish governance

^

Secure what matters

^

Move forward with confidence

How I Work With Leadership Teams

I don’t sell AI tools.

I don’t run pilots for the sake of experimentation.

I don’t chase trends.

I work with leadership teams to:

^

Understand their current AI exposure

^

Establish security and governance foundations

^

Create practical, responsible AI roadmaps

My role is not to make AI exciting.
It’s to make it manageable, secure, and aligned with leadership responsibility.

What You Can Expect

I work with a limited number of organizations each quarter to ensure focus, discretion, and impact.

Every engagement is:

^

Executive-level

^

Grounded in experience

^

Focused on clarity, not hype

"Christine is a true force of nature that I am privileged to have worked alongside over a number of years. Christine has pioneered the way Sports and Entertainment organisations collaborate on technology initiatives. As a trusted confidant Christine would always be top of my list as someone that I would reach out to for counsel and strategic input. I always look forward to seeing what Christine is up to as I know it will be pioneering and I'll learn a lot from it."

"I have known Christine for over 20 years, first as a peer when she was with the Diamondbacks, then as a client when she ran SEAT and finally as an direct employee at NASCAR. She has an incredible reputation as a leader and innovator in the industry. I am complete impressed on how she can lead a discussion regardless if it is a small team meeting or a conference of 3000 people. While at NASCAR I was completely impressed on how she translates these skills to her management style. She completely changed the culture of the Data Strategy Team creating a work environment where staff felt enabled and respected."

I'm in awe of Christine. She is too humble to say what I'm about to herself but for more than 15 years, she has been a role model - not just for women in sports - but for pretty much everyone. She was one of the two first women in the sports to be a C-level executive. She created based on a combination of her skills, experience, good nature and sense of organization the single most powerful sports business association and best conference in the world of sports. All amazing. But beyond that she also is an accomplished technologist - and has basically taken multiple organizations into the 21st century when it comes to the requirements for technology to engage the fans and the customers they have. She is respected, admired but most importantly loved in the sports world and as she gains influence in the technology world, by that world too. I know her as someone who not only is exceptional in her work, but a truly good person in her life and those who know her, know that. There is no organization that I know that wouldn't benefit from her presence. She empowers people who work for her, and trusts those who do, but also knows how to get the work done when and how it has to be done. As effusive as this sounds, ironically, I'm probably understating the case. I'm a pretty well known guy in the world of CRM/customer engagement and customer experience, so I'm a student of human behavior and of the right brain - and trust me, Christine ticks all the boxes on doing things right and remaining a wonderfully good human being the in the process. I have been honored to be her mentor. She is a mentor to many herself. This is someone you should pay close attention to - because with all that - her work/efforts aren't done yet. The future still beckons. If you think I'm overstating it, ask anyone who knows her. "

"I have had the privilege of knowing Christine for over a decade and can confidently say it is rare to find a person that so consistently has their finger on the pulse of technology. Christine is a proven leader in founding and building-out a successful Sport and Entertainment technology community that has enlightened and connected thousands of technology professionals. From a personal standpoint, her work has had a direct and rewarding impact on my own career. I believe her success stems from her excellent project management skills and her ability to build relationships across diverse sectors of technology, which include her internal teams, vendors, and suppliers. Christine combines an effective and personable consultative approach with a persistent demand for excellence, which yields the benefits and positive outcomes desired in our field."
