Protecting Your Peace is Leadership Work

I used to think the key to a productive life—and successful leadership—was managing time.

Color-coded calendars. Hourly breakdowns. Efficiency hacks. And sure, those things help. But over the years, I learned something deeper: Time isn’t what burns you out. Energy is. You can have a calendar full of meetings and still feel energized if those meetings are meaningful and aligned. And you can have a light calendar and still feel depleted if you’re saying yes to the wrong things—or the wrong people.

Here’s the truth:

Burnout doesn’t come from doing too much. It comes from giving your energy to the wrong things. That’s why energy management is the real work. Especially for leaders, caregivers, creatives, and visionaries.

Now, instead of asking “Do I have time for this?” I ask:

🔹 Does this align with my values? 🔹 Will this energize me or deplete me? 🔹 Is this a full-body yes—or an obligated yes? This simple shift has changed everything. Because when your energy is protected, your peace is intact. And when your peace is intact, your impact multiplies.

Remember—protect your energy like it’s your currency. Because it is.

With intention and grace, Christine
