Honoring My Dad: A Journey of Health, Gratitude, and Leadership

by | Balance, Leadership, Mindful Living, Positive Thinking, Well-Being

Last year, my life changed forever. My dad passed away from cancer. Losing him was heartbreaking, but it also pushed me to examine my own life more deeply than ever before.

In the weeks that followed, I started researching food and its connection to cancer. I learned about toxins in pesticides, how food is processed, and how easily harmful chemicals find their way into our daily lives. What I discovered was eye-opening: food doesn’t just affect our waistline. It impacts mental health, emotional balance, and overall well-being.

That realization set me on a new path.

Over the past year, my husband and I began growing the majority of what we eat. We removed toxins from our lives, focused on fresh, whole food, and committed to healthier habits. The change was profound. I lost 47 pounds and gained a healthier, stronger, more resilient body. But the transformation wasn’t just physical—it touched every part of my life. I became sharper mentally, calmer emotionally, and more grounded spiritually. And this carried into my professional life as well. I now approach leadership with greater gratitude, patience, and strength. My dad’s passing, as painful as it was, became the catalyst for growth I never expected. The lesson I’ve taken from this journey is simple but powerful: adversity can break us, or it can build us. For me, it built a stronger foundation for health, leadership, and life.

Every day, I honor my dad by choosing to live better, lead stronger, and be deeply thankful for the gift of life.
